Most people think that the need for a heavy metal detox doesn’t apply to them but you would be surprised where heavy metals can hide!
What are heavy metals and how do they affect you? We require minute amounts of heavy metals such as gold, mercury, aluminum, even arsenic, for various organs in the body to function properly but when they are present in more than trace amounts, they can interfere with those same functions. The receptors simply get clogged and they block other vital nutrients from getting through.
Lead is probably the most commonly know heavy metal in terms of creating problems for people, especially children since their smaller passageways can become clogged more easily and small amounts do big damage since their body weight is smaller.
Lead toxicity can cause brain impairment, aluminum toxicity can lead to Alzheimer’s, Mercury toxicity is implicated in Autism, Copper toxicity can lead to hair loss, to name just a few.
Modern chemicals found in modern materials create a host of new problems. On the CNN Health website there was an article that stated that “Tens of thousands of Ohio and West Virginia residents could be tested over the next year to determine if their health has been affected by drinking water containing a chemical used to make the nonstick substance Teflon.” Teflon is one of those modern chemicals that are found in not only cookware but also clothing, car parts, flooring and more.
(And quoted from http://tuberose.com/Teflon.html where you will find articles about fluoride and other toxic substances commonly found in the average home today.) "They're (ammonium perfluorooctanoate, known as C-8) in such a huge range of consumer products. We're talking about Teflon, Stainmaster, Gore-tex, Silverstone. So if you buy clothing that's coated with Teflon or something else that protects it from dirt and stains, those chemicals can absorb directly through the skin." According to the Environmental Protection Agency, some of the highest C-8 levels were found in children.”
Dioxin, one of the deadliest substances known, is still sprayed on coffee fields in Costa Rica. Mercury, besides leaking from fillings, is also found in fish, cosmetics, soil, pesticides, film, paint and plastics. Aluminum is used in soft-drink cans, cheeses, white flour, baking powder and deodorants. Arsenic may be present in coffee, some types of rice, salt and smog. Cadmium is contained in cigarette smoke, coffee, gasoline, steel cooking pans and metal pipes. Carbon monoxide, of course, comes from auto exhaust, cigarette smoke and smog. Lead is found in dyes, gasoline, paint, plumbing, pottery, insecticides, tobacco smoke, textiles and scrap metal. Many of these chemicals are also in our water, food, and air we breathe!
We think you’re starting to see that, in this day and age, just about everyone needs to be concerned about heavy metal toxicity. What can you do about it? Start with a product called Heavy Metal Detox. Its key ingredient is cilantro which helps to decrease heavy metal concentrations in the body, along with other ingredients that helps support the process. (Now don’t run out and buy straight cilantro without knowing where it comes from, how it’s grown and that it isn’t contaminated with heavy metals itself! That’s why quality control standards are the most important thing a supplement company can provide for their customers!) You’ll want to detox slowly over a period of 9 – 12 months.
Another way to rid the body of heavy metals is by taking a bath to which you’ve added some Hydrated Bentonite Clay. This can be a more comfortable way to go about it for some since the heavy metals leave the body through the pores of the skin instead of through the gastrointestinal system. Just remember that vital minerals can be heavy metals too, so have some Colloidal Minerals and Coral Calcium Powder waiting after the bath to replenish the good minerals that have leached out with the bad.
Finally, think about making better choices in your purchases of clothing, cookware, foods, etc. so as to limit future exposure to these harmful heavy metals. Certainly organic is a minimum requirement for foods you want to feed to your family. There are plenty of resources to help you learn which products are better for your health! Just ask us!
